A little blog about Tiny's

Some times its hard for me to believe people when they claim a thing I’ve created has moved them. Other times, it’s really easy.
I woke up to a wonderful note from my friend Kezia a few days after her first time at my show, Tiny’s Condo Session.
Good morning, I wrote a little blog about The Sesh while I was actually there and just wanted to share it with you 💕 I am in no way a writer, but I felt inspired to write while there and I enjoyed it. So here you go 😊
I didn’t know what to expect and to be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to predict how it made me feel.
If you pay close attention, you may pick up on hints of laughter, jovial conversation and groovy music, while passing by unit **7. And if you’re invited to be a part of what’s on the other side of that apartment door, you will be lucky to be a part of something beautiful.
Tiny’s Condo Sesh, the musical brainchild of Flo, is an intimate experience that brings local talent right into his living room. Decorated with pothos plants, vinyls, and patterned cushions, Flo’s apartment transforms into an opportunity to laugh, listen, and learn, together.
Within minutes of entering, I was greeted with smiles, introductions, and a vast array of beverages. I made myself comfortable on a high white cushioned bar chair and enjoyed my Nestea juice box while listening to the sounds of Little Simz playing into the atmosphere. Shortly after, I met Sayo aka Koj, a new and local Nigerian stand up comedian who made me laugh mid-conversation while chatting about his favourite comedic inspirations and his short term memory loss (hence why he writes most of his jokes on sheets of 8x11 paper tucked in his pocket).
Slowly but surely, performers and supporters pile into the living room, making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. There’s a comfortable closeness with one another as the sun peeks through the window. Flo busily runs around setting up last minute things until the show finally starts.
Flo is a natural funny guy warming up the crowd with jokes and housekeeping rules. Guests are encouraged to participate in a “Pass the Mic” game to learn cool things about each other. In the mean time, Flo, donning a furry black bucket hat that I really want, starts to sound check.
Within minutes, the show begins and I was wrapped into 4 hours of music, singing, rapping and comedy skits. In between sets, Flo allowed for vulnerability as he shared stories of love, heart break, and showing up for himself. He told us of his desire for people to love him softly. As a result, whenever he said “Love me!”, the audience willingly responded with “jeje!”.
I nibble on puff puff and meat pie as the day turns to evening and the sun begins to set. Bubbles are blown into the air as performances continue smoothly. The Sesh comes to a close around 8:30pm in which the last set was performed by no other than Sayo who I first met when I first came in. I laughed at his jokes scribbled on his paper and appreciated his candor about mental health and relationships.
Just before sneaking out, I give Flo a warm embrace and thanked him for inviting me to be a part of something magical. And that I hope I can be given the pleasure to experience this again.
Yeah, I know, she lied about not being much of a writer. But don’t stress Kezia, you’re always welcome at The Sesh.
Damn, people are cool.
Love me jeje 💜💐
